Ushuaia City

Ushuaia is known as being the southernmost city in the world, considered by many locals as “The End of the World”.

Located near the southern tip of Argentina, in the province of Tierra del Fuego (“Land of Fire”), there is no other city in the world as far south as Ushuaia. Although it is not very large, Ushuaia is well known and is filled with tourists every summer when over 300 cruise ships come through its port. During winter people come from all over the world for the skiing season during the winter months of July to October.

Ushuaia is also one of the main launching points for journeys and explorations to the land of Antarctica. It is a young city, with a great part of its permanent residents being young families and couples. With the mountains to its East, the wind does not blow too strong, however the temperature in Ushuaia for those from warmer climates is somewhat fresh to cold during summer, and below zero in the winter. Snow is always covering the mountains and reaches down to Ushuaia’s city streets every year.
